Basset Artésien Normand

The Basset Artesien Normand is a short-legged hound with a distinctive appearance characterized by its long, droopy ears, loose skin, and sad expression. It was initially bred as a scent hound and used to hunt wild game such as foxes and rabbits. While they are often confused with Basset Hounds, there are several distinctions between the two breeds: the BAN is lighter in weight and has longer legs than the Basset Hound slightly. With a rather low-set and elongated frame, the BAN’s body is two times as long as it is high!
